Big sweet 90th treat
Cutting the cake at home and abroad
LAC Zubrinich said his grand-
mother had taught him to cook and
the cake was her recipe.
"It was the largest undertaking I
had ever done," LAC Zubrinich said.
"All the flowers were hand-made
with each petal individually crafted
using a sugar-based icing."
The team worked right down to
the wire to complete the masterpiece
before the anniversary reception,
which was attended by Queensland
Governor Penelope Wensley.
"The Governor was very
impressed by the cake," LAC
"And I gave her a hand-made
magnolia spray as a memento."
The cake was ceremonially cut by
Commander Combat Support Group
AIRCDRE Noddy Sawade and
19-year-old AC Cameron Samut from
36SQN, and later enjoyed by guests
at the reception.
And the verdict? "It tasted as
good as it looked," said one guest,
