EIGHT Air Force members are among
51 ADF personnel who have been rec-
ognised for their courage, dedication,
compassion and devotion to duty in
the SIEV 36 emergency in April last
On May 4, Commander Border
Protection Command RADM Tim
Barrett presented commendations to
20 personnel in Darwin.
Included in their number
were CPL Sharon Jager (CDF
Commendation), FLTLT Joleen Darby
(Chief of Joint Operations (CJOPS)
Gold Commendation), LACW
Amanda Olzard (CJOPS Group
Gold Commendation to the crew of
patrol boat Ardent Four) and LAC
Zachary Martin (CJOPS Group Gold
Commendation to patrol boat Assail
On April 20, Commander Air
Combat Group AIRCDRE Noddy
Sawade presented LACW Kate Weeks
and LAC Adam Haynes with the
CJOPS Gold Group Commendation to
LACW Louise McDonald and LAC
Thomas Norton have been awarded
CJOPS Gold Commendations for their
service with Assail Two and Ardent
Four respectively and will receive
their awards in the near future.

to provide medical care and comfort
for the survivors.
"It's nice to be recognised as a
group for our efforts. We all did an
amazing job that day," she said.
"I'm proud to have served with
everyone involved with SIEV 36.
They're all heroes."
