"Many of our AP-3C Orion peo-
ple have done four and in some cases
five deployments to the Middle East.
I understand the impact that this has
on personal lives and I thank their
families and friends in Australia
for the vital support they provide,"
AIRMSHL Binskin said.

the global airspace. It is extremely
versatile and can transmit real-time

essential situational awareness to
commanders on the ground.
It also performs well in a multi-
tude of roles including anti-subma-
rine warfare, anti-surface warfare,
maritime surveillance, naval fleet
support and search and survivor
Commander Surveillance and
Response Group AIRCDRE Jim

ISR, and today about 70 per cent of
sorties in the MEAO are conducted

crews have conducted overland ISR
tasks in Afghanistan and Iraq, mari-
time patrols of the Persian Gulf and
North Arabian Sea and more recently,
counter-piracy missions in the vicin-

the US-led Combined Maritime Force
(CMF) and other international task
OC 92WG GPCAPT Warren
McDonald said that in addition to
ongoing work in the Middle East
the crews had provided significant
support to Operation Resolute,
patrolling Australia's northern mari-
